The scar on Skye’s knee is shaped like a smile

About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins to experience increasingly terrifying and unexplained events. Crushed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to come face to face with her past. In one scene, Skye places a VOSS water bottle on a stone/marble kitchen counter and a noise is heard that matches the sound of a plastic object being placed. VOSS water bottles are made of glass, something that is actually specifically emphasized in the film, and so the sound does not match the action seen. Smile 2 started off strong and fast
. Featured on The 7PM Project: Episode 17 October 2024 (2024). With its long «one take» a bloody and frenetic opening, ensuring continuity from the original. The camerawork and lighting in the film were excellent, the use of rotating shots and the use of reflections certainly added to the gruesome sequences. Naomi Scott!
What a performance
The descent into madness was terrifying (in a good way). I would love to see an actress in a horror film get an Oscar nomination, but unfortunately the genre is hard to crack when it comes to awards season. She was heartwarming and authentic. I would like to see more of her in such roles. Unfortunately (in my opinion) the film relied too much on jump scares and loud noises.
Call it the dance troupe apartment scene
I understand that they are an important tool for the genre, but they need to be used in a way that adds to the story rather than scaring the audience in and of themselves. The film really shines in the scenes that were more sinister and disturbing rather than just scares. The scenes where the audience realizes Skye is hallucinating are the most memorable and offer much more weight than the jump scares. I would love for us to learn a little more about the legend of the entity and perhaps delve deeper into its origins and history. Hence the rationale for a sequel that offers more to the overall story.
It was very frustrating and it took the penultimate moment
There is one scene (that I know others will feel the same way about) where the director decided to use CGI instead of practical effects. The film gave the audience some great horror moments and some standout performances. However, the film, which relied too much on scares and goofy characters, strayed from the dark and brooding tone of the original.
