What I like about Sorrentino is that his films are like a book of thousands of existential questions that clash like electrons in the atom of our consciousness, trying to find the integrity of our own self. «Partenope» is just such a film that prompts us to many questions: what do we think about when our gaze is directed upwards; What does it mean not to use the beauty with which you are gifted, and what price will you pay for it; what is the strength of love when we are young; how do you bear the burden of being smarter than others and does this make you abnormal or just a sad and misunderstood person; Did love fail as a means of survival; when it’s time to go; What does personal freedom become when you lock it in a cage.

Small from a seeming paradise, where not all survive

«Partenope» is a sad film, where personal freedom is forced to be locked up in order to survive and not be killed by a tyrannical, retrograde society, whose main occupation is to judge everyone with the iron hammer of its prejudices and traditions. And in Naples, as we see, there are many of them.
